A married man and woman (not to each other) each suspect their spouses of infidelity. Their mutual despair brings them into a questionable bond of friendship.

Fixed to a slower tempo, the film allows the viewer to experience the emotions of the characters in real-time. As usual, Wong Kar Wai doesnt have his characters race through a traditional series of events and obstacles. Rather, he has them dwell in one space, lingering and meditating on the same thought/emotion for extended periods of time.

I cannot stress enough how beautifully composed every shot is,
watch the trailer and judge for yourself.

-The Curators

I discovered Michael Zancan on deviant art a couple years ago....

I discovered Michael Zancan on deviant art a couple years ago. His work is intriguing, fantastical and delightful—I would love to have a cup of joe with this fellow. He has a whimsical illustrative style coupled with masterly painting strokes which has one exploring his pieces for hours on end. Peaceful and imaginative his surrealist paintings are an experience and a joy.

This, tumblings, is one talented artist. Click the picture to visit his deviant art site.

It’s easy to praise her for her enchanting/ strangely regal countenance, but it is undeniable that her songwriting is exceedingly competent. In fact, exceedingly damn excellent. As it’s been said many a time in certain western-canadian circles,

listen to that ascending string line and tell me it’s not smart music.
Paul Giamatti plays a fictional version of himself in the independent film Cold Souls by director Sophie Barthes. Giamatti—feeling weighed-down emotionally, gets his soul extracted, and consequently stolen by the Russian black market. The film is similar to Charlie Kaufman’s Being John Malkovich; using the same satirical themes to comment on the nature of self and consciousness, and the mind-body dichotomy. The film itself is crisp stylistically, and uses pleasing and interesting shots; formally the film parallels the idea of soul-searching.

A travelling circus comes to a small Hungarian town in the dead of winter,
instilling amongst the townsfolk an unexplained sense of fear and dread.

Infamous for being composed of only 39 continuous shots, this film invokes a unique sense of tension. Tarr’s work is an unexpected {and almost jarring} hiatus from the routine buzz and high-speed gratification customary in popular cinema.

Two words:
languid, & gorgeous.

-The Curators

max overacts--

max overacts--:
Expand your web-comic bookmark folder with this delightful strip by artist Caanan. {A la Calvin and Hobbes} max is a lovable, imaginative third-grader with aspirations to be the greatest thespian of all time.
Nightfall is a short story written by Isaac Asimov in 1941. Later Asimov rewrote the story with Robert Silberberg into a full length novel. To a planet constantly illuminated by its six suns, darkness is something beyond imagination. The novel follows an astronomer who discovers a coming eclipse that will bring darkness upon the planet. Asimov explores the psychological effects of darkness and the insanity it could bring to an entire people. The depth Asimov brings to this concept places this book into classic science fiction. Both the short story and the novel are fascinating reads.

Latvian artist Kris Lewis is a genius. His painting style can be described as oil on wood contemporary portraiture which stems and draws heavily from the Old Masters. I can look through his collection for ages and I often revisit it. Simultaneously realistic and exaggerated he captures the traditional in composition and style, as well as deep emotion found in subtle nuances.

Every time I discover something new. There is such old-world darkness to his pieces, and I especially adore his depictions of women; they are strong and hopeful even when broken.

Raphaelle’s eyes wide and upward turned, I could have believed she & I & the entire room had fallen into some prehistoric forest, submerged underwater.

The sound is deliciously thick and warm, heavy with layers and weaved with some kind of otherworldly intrinsic elegance. {Note, the influence of Animal Collective can definitely be felt here.}

The band conceptually is really centered around connectedness {hence the name}, thus all the songs are written collectively as a band.

Listeners, please listen more than once.

-The Curators

Welcome--

To The Collection.
